A few words about DR. Van Patten

I am a native Carson City resident, born and raised in Carson City. I moved to away to attend the University of Utah for my bachelors degree in biology. I then continued my educational journey to Denver to pursue my doctor of dental surgery degree from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry.

I returned to Nevada and associated with a dental practice in Reno. I went full circle and settled in at home, Carson City, and started my own practice. I have been in private practice for over 25 years.

I enjoy golf, travel, fishing, attending concerts, but most of all, spending time with family and the ones I love. My newest roll of “Papa” is a great experience hanging out with out with our grandson Jack. It is amazing to see things through his eyes. It is impossible to be around this little guy and not smile.

I received my bachelors degree in biology from the University of Utah. I obtained my Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. The practice of dentistry, like everything, is constantly improving with advances in materials, techniques and technology. I actively pursue continuing education courses, conferences, lectures, study clubs and seminars to expand my professional knowledge to regularly improve and expand the care I offer my patients:

  • Alpenglow Study Club
  • Dental Ed Study Club
  • CEREC Study Club
  • Scottsdale Center for CEREC Doctors

I have been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunities in life that I have had. Dentistry is a wonderful profession that allows me to give a little back to the community. FISH and the associated Ross Clinic is one way I can help others by giving a hand up to people that are unable to afford dental treatment. It is an honor for me to participate in the Adopt A Vet program as a big “Thank You” to our veterans that have placed themselves in harms way to protect our country. It is also a pleasure to help deserving kids with dental services through the Northern Nevada Dental Health Program.

I have been a member of the Carson City Rotary Club for over 20 years. Rotary International is a great organization that benefits not only locally but world wide. Rotary is instrumental in nearly eliminating polio from the planet.
